Dolpo, “the Hidden Land,” is a region located in northwestern Nepal, west of the Annapurnas and Mustang. This trek crosses remote high valleys inhabited by people of Tibetan Buddhist culture, an area that was long closed to foreigners. The Dolpo-pa still practice Bon, an ancient Tibetan animist belief, and continue to live much as they did in the past. This off-the-beaten-path trek from Dolpo to Jomsom takes you to the magnificent turquoise Phoksumdo Lake and through some truly exceptional landscapes.
