Annapurna : Trek Khopra Danda

The Khopra Danda trek is a peaceful and scenic alternative to the more crowded Annapurna routes. This trail offers breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Nilgiri. From the Khopra viewpoint at 3,650 meters, the sunrise is spectacular. For those who wish, a trip to the sacred Khayar Lake, located at over 4,600 meters, makes for a beautiful day excursion.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu – Pokhara

Departure by tourist bus to Pokhara. Free time. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Pokhara – Kimche (1640m) – Ghandruk (1940m)

Transfer to Kimche by private local jeep. Begin the trek with a walk to the village of Ghandruk. The journey includes about 3 hours by jeep and 2 to 3 hours of walking. Enjoy views of Machapuchhre, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 3: Ghandruk – Tadapani (2540m)

The trail ascends along a terrace path and then through a rhododendron forest up to Tadapani. Enjoy views of Gangapurna and Annapurna III. Approximately 4 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 4: Tadapani – Dobato (3350m)

Ascent through a rhododendron forest to Isharu and then to Dobato. Beautiful views of the Annapurnas. Approximately 5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 5: Dobato – Muldai Peak (3640m) – Chistibung (2960m)

Early morning ascent to the summit of Muldai Peak for sunrise. Spectacular views of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurnas. Return to Dobato. Then follow a ridge trail, descend through a rhododendron forest, and finally ascend to Chistibung. Approximately 5.5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 6: Chistibung – Khopra Danda (3650m)

Ascent to Khopra Danda. Beautiful views of the Dhaulagiris and Annapurnas. Approximately 2.5 hours. In the afternoon, hike towards the sacred Khayar Lake up to the viewpoint at 4,000 meters for an even better view of the Dhaulagiris and Annapurnas. About 2 to 3 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 7: Khopra Danda – Chistibung – Swanta (2220m)

Descent to Chistibung, followed by a steep descent through a rhododendron forest to a small bridge, then a pleasant trail leading to the village of Swanta. Approximately 5.5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 8: Swanta – Ghorepani – Mohare Danda (3300m)

Descend and cross a suspension bridge to ascend to Chitre. Here, we join the classic trail to Ghorepani. After lunch, hike up to Poon Hill (3100m) above Ghorepani, then continue to Mohare Danda. Enjoy beautiful views of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurnas. Approximately 6 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 9: Mohare Danda – Lespar (2150m)

Descent through a forest, then a gentle ascent to Hampal Pass, followed by a descent to the village of Lespar. Free time in the village. Approximately 4.5 hours of walking. Overnight in a homestay.

Day 10: Lespar – Patichaur (1200m) – Pokhara

Walk through villages, then descend along the Pati Khola to Patichaur. Transfer by private vehicle to Pokhara. Approximately 4 hours of walking and 2 hours of driving. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Pokhara – Kathmandu

Departure by tourist bus to Kathmandu. Transfer to the hotel.
