Itinerary

09 oct: Kathmandu – Arughat Bazar – Jagat (1350m)

Early morning departure by private jeep for the village of Arughat Bazar, then onward to the village of Jagat. 8 to 9 hrs of driving. O/N lodge. 

10 oct: Jagat – Lokpa (2240m) 

Ascend the Buri Gandaki valley, climb up to the village of Philim, and continue to the village of Lokpa. Views of Ganesh Himal and Shringi Himal. 6 hrs trek. O/N lodge. 

11 – 12oct: Lokpa – Chhumling (2386m) – Chokhangparo (3030m) 

Descents and ascents entering the Tsum Valley. 5 to 6 hrs per day. O/N lodges in the villages of Chhumling and Chokhangparo. 

13 oct: Chokhangparo – Nyle (3361m)

Cross through villages and visit small gompas along the way. Beautiful views behind you of Bauddha Himal, Himal Chuli, Rani Peak, and Sringi Himal. 5 hrs of walking. O/N lodge.

14 oct: Nyle – Mu Gompa (3700m) – Chokhangparo (3030m)

Climb up to the Mu Gompa monastery, the last settlement before the Tibetan border. View of Ganesh Himal. Visit the monastery, return to Nyle, and descend till the big village of Chokhangparo. 6 hrs. O/N lodge.

15oct: Chokhangparo – Dumje – Ripchet (2470m)

Continue descending the valley to Dumje, then cross a bridge to climb up to the village of Ripchet on the other side of the Siyar Khola. 6 hrs trek. Beautiful mountain views. O/N Lodge. 

16 oct: Ripchet – Lokpa – Deng (1920m) 

Descend to Lokpa, then to rejoin the main Manaslu Circuit trail and then trek up to Deng. 6 hrs trek. O/N Lodge.

17 oct: Deng – Namrung (2600m) 

Ascend the gorges of Buri Gandaki Khola. Appearance of the first Tibetan villages. Steep climb through a dense forest before reaching Namrung. 6 hrs trek. O/N lodge.

18 oct: Namrung – Samagaon (3510m) 

Ascend through a spruce forest to reach Lho, a beautiful village with dry stone houses. Views of the foothills of Manaslu’s east face. We are at the foot of Himal Chuli (7893m), Ngadi Chuli / Peak 29 (7840m), and Ganesh Himal. 5 to 6 hrs trek. O/N Lodge.   

19 oct : Samagaon. 

Acclimatization day. Hike up to the Pung Gyen Glacier (4000m) facing the east face of Manaslu. Panoramic views of Manaslu, Ngadi Chuli (Peak 29), and Himal Chuli. Then hike back to Samagaon. 5 hrs of walking. O/N lodge.  

20 oct: Samagaon – Samdo (3750m)

Start a side trip up to Lake Birendra, trail which leads towards Manaslu Base Camp, then climb up to the village of Samdo—the last village before the Tibetan border. 5 hrs. O/N lodge.  

21 oct: Samdo – Dharmasala (4400m)

Continue along a gradual trail to Dharmasala, an isolated sheepfold and the last camp before the pass. 3:30 hrs walk. O/N lodge.

22 oct: Dharmasala – Larkya La (5100m) – Bimtang (3720m)

Early morning departure for a long but gradual climb to the pass, followed by a long descent to Bimtang. Magnificent panoramic views of the mountains. Approximately 8 to 9 hrs of walking. O/N lodge.

23 oct: Bimtang – Tilje (2300m)

Descend to the village of Tilje, with views of Himal Chuli and the north face of Phungi. 6 hours of walking. O/N lodge.   

24 oct: Tilje – Dharapani – Kathmandu 

Descend to the Marsyangdi Valley at Dharapani on the Annapurna Circuit trail. 1:30 hrs of trek followed by a transfer to Kathmandu by a private jeep.
