Rasuwa Trek – Langtang and Gosaikunda Lakes
The trek in the Rasuwa region, Langtang, and to the Gosainkund lakes offers an immersion in Himalayan nature and local culture, passing through Tamang villages, forests, monasteries, and high-mountain landscapes. This route leads to the sacred lakes of Gosainkund, combining adventure, spirituality, and natural beauty.
Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu – Syabrubesi (1,450 m)
Early morning departure by bus to the village of Syabrubesi (1,450 m). Approximately 7 hours of travel. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 2: Syabrubesi – Tatopani (2,560 m)
Ascent up the valley toward Thambuchet, then Gompagang, continuing to the village of Tatopani, known for its hot springs. About 6 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 3: Tatopani – Thuman (2,340 m)
Ascent to Nagthali Gyang (3,200 m), then descent to the village of Thuman, with superb views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Paldor, and the Gosainkund Lekh. About 5.5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 4: Thuman – Briddim (2,200 m)
Descent to cross the Bhote Kosi River, then ascent to the village of Briddim. About 5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 5: Briddim – Lama Hotel (2,380 m)
Gradual ascent to the small village of Khangjim, then to the village of Syarpagaon (2,520 m), followed by a descent to Lama Hotel. About 6 hours of walking. Beautiful views of Ganesh Himal. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 6: Lama Hotel – Langtang (3,500 m)
Ascent through the forest, then into a widening valley to reach the village of Langtang. Views of Langtang II, Langtang Lirung (7,246 m), and Gangchenpo (6,387 m). About 5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 7: Langtang – Kyanjin Gompa (3,800 m)
A short day of walking, ascending to Kyanjin Gompa. About 3 hours of walking. Explore the surroundings and visit the local cheese factory. Views of Naya Kanga, Ponggen Dopku, and Gangchenpo. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 8: Kyanjin Gompa
Ascent of Tsergo Ri (4,984 m), with magnificent views of Naya Kanga (5,846 m), Gangchenpo (6,387 m), Langtang Lirung (7,246 m), and Kimshung (6,745 m). Return to Kyanjin Gompa. About 6–7 hours of walking. Optional: Ascent above Kyanjin to around 4,300 m for stunning views of Langtang Lirung and its glacier, Naya Kanga, and Ponggen Dopku. About 3.5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 9: Kyanjin Gompa – Lama Hotel (2,380 m)
Descent to the village of Langtang, then continuing down to Lama Hotel. About 6 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 10: Lama Hotel – Thulo Syabru (2,200 m)
Descent to the tea houses, then ascent to the large village of Thulo Syabru. About 4.5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 11: Thulo Syabru – Sing Gompa (3,200 m)
Steep ascent through rhododendron forests to the top of a ridge, then the path gradually climbs to Sing Gompa. Views of Langtang Lirung. About 4.5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 12: Sing Gompa – Gosainkund (4,380 m)
After a steady ascent, we leave the forested area and reach Laurebina on a ridge. Beautiful views of Annapurna, Manaslu, and the Langtang range. We continue gaining altitude to reach the Gosainkund lakes. About 5.5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 13: Gosainkund – Sing Gompa (3,300 m)
Descent to Sing Gompa. Beautiful views of the mountains. About 4 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 14: Sing Gompa – Dunche (1,960 m)
Steep descent through the forest to the Trishuli River, crossing a bridge, then following a path along the south bank of the Trishuli. About 5 hours of walking. Overnight in a lodge.
Day 15: Dunche – Kathmandu
Departure by bus for Kathmandu.
